irving penn x issey miyake

Since I just finished talking about Mathew Ames, it seemed appropriate to add a source of his inspiration, that truly that has withstood all tests of time. Images from, “Irving Penn Regards the Work of Issey Miyake”, a book which was published more than a decade ago, displaying the wordless harmony of the artistic relationship between Irving Penn and Issey Miyake.

“Miyake offers Penn the forms and textures that have been the substance of much of his long career. Penn’s photographs allow Miyake to look again at his designs as if they were completely new. This is an invaluable representation of the intuitive partnership between two artists that Miyake describes as a ‘silent understanding’.” {Quoted from Alibris Review}

A N I M A L A T T R A C T I O N S

These hand-made ant farms illustrate how unique a path each colony of ants has forged within their confined space. These fascinating farms, filled with sand and glitter by Jennifer Coster, blur the boundaries between drawing, minimalism, and childhood science fairs. Work exhibited at Whole Gallery
